MWNF participates in MENA Digital Summer School
Berlin

MWNF was invited to participate with a lecture, focusing on the evolving role of museums within the Arab world in light of cultural and digital transformations. The lecture was given by Dina TURKIEH, Amman / Abu Dhabi, senior museum professional and curator of Islamic & Arab art, MWNF exhibition advisor.

Mrs Turkieh’s lecture was titled Exploring the Narrative: The Expanding Roles of Museums in the Arab World – Insights from the Gulf's New Cultural Landscape and Digital Curatorial Practice and was structured in three parts: first, a historical overview of museums in the Arab world; second, an analysis of the rapid development of new cultural institutions in the Gulf region; and third, a discussion on the rise of digital museums and virtual exhibitions. Mrs Turkieh highlighted Museum With No Frontiers (MWNF) as a pioneering digital platform, showcasing projects such as Discover Islamic Art, The Table is Set: Food Traditions and Legacies in the Islamic World, and Explore the Islamic Art in the Mediterranean. These examples illustrated the benefits of digital ideation for both monuments and objects, offering new modes of access, preservation, and transnational storytelling.

Participation of Mrs Turkieh in a panel discussion about the importance of digitalisation of both, museum collections and monuments in preserving of memory and heritage, completed the contribution of MWNF to the Summer School.
