The Pepoli Museum is located in the 14th century palace of the ‘300’ which was the seat of the convent of the Carmelite Fathers.
Within the museum, the most important section is that attributed to the private collections of Count Agostino Pepoli, to whom the museum was attributed to when it was built in the 1900s.
To the museum collections were later added works from the Fardelliana art gallery which constituted paintings from the Neapolitan school as well as other works from Trapani religious organisations. Other important aspects within the museum constitute the collections of applied arts from patrons such as Count Hernandez of Erice and the Hospice Sieri Pepoli.
Alongside its collections of paintings and sculptures, the Pepoli museum showcases the development of figurative arts within the region; nativity paintings, corals, gold and silver objects, ecclesiastical furnishings, sacred hangings, majolica pottery, archaeological finds, coins and historical relics of the city of Trapani.
In regard to Islamic art, the museum contains a noteworthy collection of epigraphs with Kufic inscriptions upon its ground floor.
