MWNF’s Virtual Museum on display in League of Arab States’ pavilion at Expo 2010, Shanghai
About 70 million visitors are expected at Expo 2010 in Shanghai between 1 May and 31 October. “Better City, Better Life” is the theme of this universal exposition, the 55th since the first was held in 1851 at the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London, under the title “Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations”.

Museum With No Frontiers (MWNF) has been invited by the League of Arab States to present its Virtual Museum www.discoverislamicart.org at the League's pavilion for the entire duration of Expo 2010. A large screen above the pavilion entrance will show highlights relating to the great Islamic dynasties from the Umayyad Caliphate (661) until the end of the Ottoman Empire (1922). This special display focuses on the contributions made to the world's largest Virtual Museum by seven Arab countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia. An interactive stand will enable visitors to explore the Virtual Museum themselves.

The presence of the MWNF at the League of Arab States pavilion provides a concrete opportunity to increase awareness of the history and cultural heritage of the Arab world. The value of the MWNF programme's contribution to a better knowledge of the Arab countries and deeper understanding of their societies was acknowledged in the Memorandum that was signed between the two organisations in connection with Shanghai Expo 2010.
