22 & 23 October 2015, Exhibition and Symposium: How Islamic Art did reach Berlin
On the occasion of the exhibition dedicated to “Friedrich Sarre and the Berlin Museums”, our partner, the Museum of Islamic Art Berlin organises an international symposium that illustrates the history and origins of its collection. Under the title “Wie die islamische Kunst nach Berlin kam (How Islamic art did reach Berlin) scholars from different countries will look at the work of the German Orientalist and collector Friedrich Sarre who at the turn of the 19th century, travelled to many countries of the Middle East, conducted archaeological research and established connections all over the Ottoman Empire. More about Friedrich Sarre.
