REOPENING OF THE GRAN GUARDIA (PREPARATION)

Initially it was planned to install the MWNF operational office at the so-called Gran Guardia, a XVI centuries guardhouse for soldiers, which is part of the ‘Porta a Mare’, the city entrance from the harbour.

The planned opening programme included a cycle of conferences and the installation of an interactive presentation of the monuments and sites of Portoferraio and its surroundings. As a consequence of technical reasons the programme had to be cancelled and the MWNF operational office was moved to the Centro Culturale De Lauger.
