MWNF GALLERIES, EXPLORE WITH MWNF, NEW HOMEPAGE

The first part of this five-year period was dedicated an important reorganisation within MWNF to adapt the operational structure to new geo-political circumstances, determined by an increasing focus on national values everywhere and the long term impact of the ‘Arab spring’ in the countries of North Africa and the Middle East, with related drastic changes in political and funding priorities. For MWNF as a truly independent multinational organisation with an important focus on the artistic legacy of Islam, survival became a real challenge. Since then, the majority of our team are volunteers from all around the world, who – thanks to competence, dedication and enthusiasm – make it possible to add new content, create new applications to explore the MWNF website and improve security and stability of our platform.

The second part these five years was then marked also by the COVID 19 pandemic that led to a drastic increase of visits to the MWNF websites (300%); this required further improvements in terms of security, accessibility and content management.

During these five years the following new projects and applications have been launched:

Discover Carpet Art and Discover Glass Art, both later incorporated in the new MWNF Galleries project including so far 35 thematic galleries and enabling users to explore a specific medium or type of object. Explore with MWNF offering a great spectrum of virtual travel opportunities. A new MWNF portal homepage was inaugurated in 2021.
