DISCOVER ISLAMIC ART: ELABORATION OF A MANUAL FOR TEACHERS IN ARAB COUNTRIES (WORKSHOP I)

Experts from six Arab countries met in Cairo for a three-day workshop to define the criteria for the elaboration of reference material about the use of the Discover Islamic Art Virtual Museum as an educational tool. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Aymen Azzam (Amman Baccalaureate School) and counted on the contribution of Dr. Mohammad Najjar (MWNF technical and curatorial advisor). During the opening session Ambassador Faeqa Alsaleh, advisor to the Secretary General of the League of Arab States and head of the Department for Education and Science as well as, on behalf of MWNF, Mrs Eva Schubert (Chair and CEO), Mr Amr Hamdy (Vice-President) and Ambassador Fathy El Shazly (Honorary Committee) addressed the participants. The workshop included a visit to the Museum of Islamic Art, a Discover Islamic Art partner museum, where the participants were welcomed by Mohamed Abbas, director of the Museum.
