Description:

This exquisite example of Turkish craftsmanship was probably among the gifts that Sultan Murad III (AH 953–1003 / AD 1546–1595) sent to Rudolf II (1552–1612) with an invitation to attend the circumcision of his son. Emperor Rudolf in turn presented the Turkish emissary with a chain and several cups valued at 4,000 guilders for the Sultan.
