Description:

This shallow bowl has a separate disc riveted to the centre. The ornamentation represents almost the entire repertory of mid-16th century Ottoman decoration. A split-leaf arabesque is engraved on the disc; the cavetto has interlaced quatrefoil medallions and cloud scrolls; on the outer walls the half medallions are engraved with saz and rosette design. Broken stems around the base recall the mannerism of the Sünnet Odası panels, the Rüstem Pasha tiles and ceramic dishes from circa 1545-50.
