An Italian cartoon stigmatising the Italian aerial bombing of Libyan villages

Giuseppe Scalarini (1873-1948)
In 1911, in Libya, the newly founded Italian Air Force carried out the very first aerial bombing of civilian targets in world history. Italian anti-colonialists vocally stigmatised such practice, as Scalarini’s cartoon shows.
