MWNF Honorary Committee

The MWNF Honorary Committee was constituted in 2008. It is composed of prominent people who through their support have made a significant contribution to the development of Museum With No Frontiers.

The purpose of the Honorary Committee is to consolidate the institutional identity of MWNF as an independent international organisation.

HE Wafaa Bassim
Former Ambassador of Egypt

Ambassador Wafaa Bassim graduated from Cairo University, Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences in 1977 and has a diploma in international relations from IHEI, Geneva in 1982. She joined the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978 and served in the International Organisations department, International Economics department, European Affairs department as deputy assistant foreign minister. She served in the Egyptian mission to UN in Geneva, Egyptian Embassy in Rome, and as Ambassador of Egypt to Romania and Moldova. From 2005, she was appointed as Assistant Foreign Minister for Cabinet Affairs and chief of Staff of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, for seven consecutive years, being the first Egyptian and Arab woman to hold this post. In 2012 she was posted as permanent representative of Egypt to the UN in Geneva, then Ambassador to the Holy See in Rome. She retired in 2015, to become member of the Egyptian Council on foreign Affairs and member of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Egyptian National Council on Women. Ambassador Bassim is a lecturer in many academies and institutes, and did consultancy to UNDP and Confindustria in Italy on UN issues. She is fluent in Arabic, French, English and Italian.
