ISLAMIC ART IN THE MEDITERRANEAN (IAM) EXHIBITION TRAILS
MUDEJAR ART
Islamic Aesthetics in Christian Art

Mudejar Art Exhibition Trail displays an important part of Spanish art and history when a unique type of art and architecture which combines Islamic and Christian features flourished. Taking its name from an Arab word “mudayyan” meaning “one who was permitted to remain through a pact”, Muslim artisans and craftsmen were the major elements of this new type of expression of taste in the re-conquered Iberian Peninsula, under the patronage of the new patrons on a land they had known for a long time.
